It is hard for me to comment since you wanted us to send the sample back to you. I think one of the measurements from me was a typo, either the 4.5 or the 5.5cm. I would think that it would be the 5.5. I may have taken that measurement when it was on the form (as well as measure it flat), the stretch of the fabric could account for the change in the measurement.
For now, I will leave it up to you to do the best that you can to reduce the opening as it is seen on the dummy. The designer wants to make the opening smaller than the P1 sample. I would try to reduce the opening up to 1.5cm to make the opening smaller.
If you want to send me a screenshot of the before and after back pieces, I would be happy to look at that before you proceed with the P2 sample
